The @Stl_City_ARES (St. Louis City Amateur Radio Emergency Services) conducted a mini exercise on February 7, 2013 in conjunction with The Great Central US Shakeout Earthquake Drill. It was a great learning experience and very well put together.
What does this have to do with us as Laymen? Well, from the National level on down we are asked (through our disaster ministry) to help prepare for and respond to disaster situations. In almost all cases, Amateur Radio Operators provide or supplement communications during disasters. We would like to promote the hobby among our youth! We would also welcome any adults who are interested as well. Talk to us if you’re interested or know of youth who would be good candidates!
