Walter Brown and the Fellowship Ministry Needs to Hear from You

(reprinted from the National Laymen E-Quarterly Newsletter)

Walter Brown

Walter Brown, Jr.

Tinton Falls, NJ -- The reservations for the Missions in Education & Evangelism luncheon for this coming June at the National Congress of Christian Education are coming in very slow.
Walter Brown, Jr. and the Fellowship & Social Committee Ministry needs to hear from those who will be attending the Congress. They are trying to plan the seating and number of meals to secure. This is also the time when the senior laymen will reserve for their junior laymen bible contestants and basketball teams.
Below is the first appeal sent out.
On this coming June 24 2010, the National Laymen will observe the annual Missions in Education and Evangelism fundraiser for laymen operations, activities and ministries.
It is held annually during the Congress of Christian Education. This year the Congress will be held in Houston, Texas.
The laymen asks if the state convention laymen presidents would solicit a minimum of $300.00 from each district and present it at the luncheon on behalf of their state.
Walter Brown, Jr. (above) is the chairman of the luncheon and has written an open letter to the membership to solicit their support.
Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Laymen Brothers:

As we stated in our last letter, final information concerning our Mission, Education and Evangelism Luncheon would be forthcoming.  Well, here it is!

We need to go to work and as always make this Luncheon a great success.
As you have been informed, the price of the Luncheon tickets is $25.00.

We will be at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church ALL DAY, Thursday, June 24, 2010.  The Junior Laymen Bible Bowl and the Luncheon will all take place at the church.  The address is 3826 Wheeler Avenue, Houston, Texas 77004.  The Pastor of the church, Pastor Marcus Cosby, is also our Luncheon Keynote Speaker.

The attached floor plan is being sent so that you can make your table (s) selection.  Please call me (732)-74l-0807 or e-mail me (Sajb619@cs.com) so that your selection can be confirmed.

We need your help in making your table selection (Tables of 10) as quickly as possible.  Most importantly, we need your donation at Roll Call.  REMEMBER, NO MORE ZEROS BY STATE NAMES.  ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT IT!

Again, we thank you for your cooperation in making the day a great one.

Yours in Christ,

Harold L. Simmons, President
Thad Jones, General Secretary
James Deen, Fourth Vice President
Walter Brown, Jr., Luncheon Chairman

As a member of the National Baptist Laymen Evangelism Ministry, in support of our "Acts of Kindness" Ministry, I am asking for your assistance in getting "Zip Loc Bags of requested items" for the Missouri representation. Quality of Care for Love Ones at the end of Life (Hospice)

Greetings Faith-Based, Community Partners, and Dear Friends:

Let's talk Reality and Proactive methods on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. during our Berean MB District Association's Congress of Christian Education Biblical Institute which is held at the Galilee MB Church, 4300 Delmar at Pendalton on most second Monday nights.  The Social Service Ministry will facilitate a workshop on a term that many of us refuses to deal with; Hospice, the quality of care that a person receives at the end of their life.  You will have the opportunity to ask questions on how to access, who will pay for such a service; what services and comforts are offered, etc.  We are encouraging everyone to take advantage, become proactive even if the topic does not apply to you today.  At some point, it could be you, or you may need to be a caregiver.  We have an excellent presenter ready to present much needed information.

As always, if you are not taking a Biblical or certified course, join the Social Service Ministry as we minister to the needs that are prevalent in our communities.  I hope to see you at the Workshop on Monday, May 10, 2010, 7:00 p.m., 4300 Delmar, Galilee MB Church.  Do not hesitate to make contact if you are in need of certain services by contacting me via email or one of the individuals in the "CC field.

In addition, "Save the Dates" -- May 17-21, 2010. During our Annual Leadership Training School where several Biblical Courses (certified and non certified) are offered at Zion Travelers MB Church and Riverview Gardens Baptist Church (East of Bellefontaine - North County); the Social Service Ministry will host workshops the entire week.  Monday-Wednesday, Domestic Violence; Thursday, Resources and Services for Seniors; and Friday, Internet Etiquette as it relates to the following:  social networking, employers, and Christians.  Join us as we are planning to empower you with resources, services and other techniques to help you, members of your various churches,  family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers; others.  Monday-Thursday, the workshops will begin at 7:15 p.m. and on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Thanks for reading, sharing and posting.
