Disaster Management Report (Joplin)

Please forward/share these E-mails with all Berean Pastors

Greetings Pastors:

Please see the Disaster Report from the State Convention Disaster Relief Director.  Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.  Your help is needed -- Join us in prayer for all victims of storms, tornadoes, floods, and the covering of those who may or could become victims.  May God be with each and everyone of those who lost family members, homes and other property.

Congratulations and a special thanks to those who have made the "Shelter Commitment."  We would love to present names of churches and pastors at our Berean Board  meeting in June, and the State Convention Meeting in October as we would like to be prepared in the event shelter is needed here in the Metropolitan St. Louis Area.  As of now, we would have to turn to others.

Please forward/share these E-mails with all Berean Pastors

Blessings in the Mighty Name of Jesus

Subject: Disaster Report

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of the most high God.  This is an update on what is going on in Joplin, none of our convention churches and communities were affected by the tornado, To God Be The Glory.  One of the fatalities was a member of one of the three churches that is in our convention.  Let us be in prayer for the residents in Joplin.

Brothers and Sisters I know that we all want to do something to help out those affected by tornado and that is a good thing, but the last thing we need to do at this time is to start collecting items to send to Joplin, and to go to Joplin to help with the clean up.  They have not started the clean up process, they are now in the rescue and recovery mode.  The Mayor has requested that everyone at this point and time simply just stay out of Joplin and let the search and rescue people do what they do uninhibited.  So I suggest that at time we just wait until help is requested.  I will stay in contact with Rev. Anderson the moderator in that area for updated information.

I also need for us to be on the same page as for being ready to help our convention churches and communities with more than the ministry of presence.  I need for you to get with the moderators and the pastors of your district and declare June 12, 2011 as Disaster Relief Day (the second Sunday) and raise a special offering for the Disaster Relief Fund.  Make all checks payable to the Missouri Baptist State Convention, earmarked

in the memo section Disaster Relief Fund and in return we will send one check to the National Disaster Relief Fund.  If you need more information feel free to e-mail or call me at 314-568-3727.
