First Baptist Church of Maplewood in Pagedale to Host a
Gatorade/Water for Life Drive for Volunteer Workers of Fatal Tornado in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
St. Louis, MO, May 9, 2011-- First Baptist Church of Maplewood in Pagedale is responding to the cry of fellow Christians in Tuscaloosa, Alabama after a devastating tornado ravaged the city killing many. The church is seeking to collect 1000 cases of Gatorade and similar sport drinks donations to aide volunteer workers in their relief efforts. The collection drive will take place on Saturday May 21, 2011 between the hours of 9am -3pm at 6815 Page at Ferguson in the City of Pagedale.
The tornado in Tuscaloosa surfaced less than a week after the “Good Friday Tornado” struck the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Fortunately for the City of St. Louis lives were spared by the twister; the City of Tuscaloosa was not as fortunate. As of April 27, 2011over forty lives have been reported lost.
“I just couldn’t ignore their plea,” said Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Malone II, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Maplewood in Pagedale. Amidst all the chaos one of the church leaders only appeal was for Gatorade. The Gatorade and similar sports drinks is to provide an alternate to water for the volunteer workers in their effort to help rebuild.
