The Ark of Safety , Inc. and The Berean Districts Laymen thank all who were a part of this great evangelistic effort Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Mercy Seat Baptist Church to feed the Homeless community and share Christ. The Sprit of God was truly in the house!! Over 100 volunteers fed over 300 Shelter Guest. There were 3 who came to Christ and were received by Mercy Seat. Pastor James Brown and the Mercy Seat Family were a God send for this ministry. There volunteer's, led by Bro. General Smith, were perfect host to the shelter guest and the volunteers. God was truly pleased with the Christian Love and Christ centered evangelism displayed by His saints. Pastor Kenneth McClamb of Ark of Safety was thanking folk all day for the exemplary service that was given to the guest.
Over 20 Churches were represented as well as other organizations (listed below). Zion Travelers members not only prepared food, brought a lot of their youth and served shelter guests, their Deacon Jerome Buggs used the ZT van to pick up shelter guest and also return them to their shelters. Rev Felix Gibson and Dea Charles Bateman of Mt. Bethel MB Church ran van and bus shuttles all day long, along with 2 other vans from other churches. Pastor Steve Wooten stopped in and encouraged guest and presented Christ. Pastor Gibson of Bethlehem MB Church served shelter guest and was also part of the clean up team. He too gave encouraging words to the guest. A BIG Thanks to Bro. David & Yolanda Bozeman, Bro. Wm Lee, Bro. Otis Woodard and Rev Jerry Wright from Illinois Baptist General Convention who came over and assisted in the ministry. Also thanks to the Prince Hall Mason's, Jake Gaston Lodge 18, Hope Hospice, Inc. and Collective Catering.
Entertainment was provided by Gee Gee's Praise Team, Ms Chastity Praise danced, Mercy Seat Layman provided music and Miming International were all great. Some shelter guest also sang for the guest.
Bro. James Dunbar, Sis. Cassandra, owner of A Style Above Beauty Salon on Parker & Befountaine (314-355-1955) - A Christian Business, Rev. Cecil Rodgers - The Street Preacher from Jerusalem Baptist Church all gave moving Testimonies. There were also testimonies from some of the shelter guest.
