Project Village

Greetings Pastors and Berean Members:

I know that many high school students must earn 50 community hours before graduating from high school.  This opportunity is also open to college students, and other individuals needing volunteer hours.  If you have students within your congregation that are interested in earning community hours through Project Village, a mentoring program for children with incarcerated parents, please contact Sister Linda Mackey at 837-2146, option 4.  This program is coordinated through the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri in partnership with the National Baptist Convention Prison Ministry Criminal Justice Commission.  For additional information concerning this great ministry, please see the attachment.[below]

We meet every second Tuesday of the month at our Official Site which is Zion Travelers, 351 Chambers, 63137 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  The volunteers would meet from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  This programs provides opportunities to get many hours as needed.  Once we have a team of volunteers, we will probably meet every Tuesday at the Church to distribute work from 5:30-6:30 p.m..  A description of the duties are as follows:

Maintaining Confidentiality

Setting up for the Ready4Life Group Mentoring session on the 2nd Tuesday of each month

Assisting with preparation of snacks

Directing Mentors/Mentees to the Ready4Life Sessions

Copying and Faxing

Filing, typing and labeling folders

Making phone calls to mentors and parents/caregivers (via script)

Sending e-mail communication to mentors and parents/caregivers

Helping/Assisting with Maintenance

Most of the duties will be done at Zion Travlers that are confidential, others can be done at home once you receive your assignment.  We need students who will be honest about their time when allowed to take work home for completion.

Those interested may contact me or come to the Church this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., be prepared to stay until 8:30 p.m.  You would receive your first three (3) hours.
