Christian Brothers and Sisters--
This email is a general invitation to all Christian believers in the St. Louis, Bi-State Region to come together in united prayer this Pentecost Sunday, May 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. The prayer service will take place at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 201 S. Skinker Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63105 (just west of Forest Park). Our theme this year is unity among the churches of our region, and our theme verse is: "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity" (Psalm 133:1, NIV).
Is it not clear that the spiritual, moral, political, and personal challenges of our day call for a united and fervent response in prayer on the part of Jesus' followers? Will you consider coming on Sunday, and bringing along your Christian friends? This event will be multi-racial, multi-ethnic, and multi-denominational. We will have small group prayer time as well as leader-led prayers. Come expecting to meet new people and perhaps to make a new friend in Christ. No offering will be taken--except for an offering of thanks and praise to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Global Day of Prayer takes place each Pentecost Sunday, and this year it is expected to draw some 300 million participants around the globe. For more information on this amazing international prayer initiative--which began in Africa about a dozen years ago--see http://www.globaldayofprayer.com/ The "media" tab at this webpage provides links to several informative videos.
Please consider announcing the Global Day of Prayer service during the Sunday morning service at your local church on May 27.
