KSDK -- Young people in Missouri looking for summer jobs will have one thousand more chances thanks to the stimulus.
Federal money will fund about one thousand jobs for people ages 17 to 24 in the Missouri State Parks Youth Corps.
Workers picked for the Corps will do jobs like cleaning, landscaping and documenting wild life and they'll do it all outdoors.
That will include work at Babler State Park in St. Louis County. That's where a shelter burned about fifteen months ago.
"We need to get more kids off the couch and away from their video games and back outdoors because there are some lessons only nature can teach," Governor Jay Nixon said.
The positions run from May 1 to September 30. Young people interested in the jobs can apply online: https://thinkoutsid e.mo.gov
