Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

This year, I am representing the Berean District’s Minister’s Wives and Widows Auxiliary in the annual “Lady of Distinction” competition. This competition between Districts within the Missouri State Baptist Convention raises funds for $1,000 scholarships for students within our Convention. I am very excited to represent the Berean District at the State Convention in October and am asking for your help in raising funds for this worthy cause: education of our youth.

On Saturday, September 18, 2010 a Religious Trivia Night will be held at the Galilee Baptist Church to raise funds for the competition. You are invited to register a team from your church, auxiliary or ministry for what will be a evening of fun and good fellowship. The Trivia Night will begin at 4:30 p.m.

A team is made up of up to ten individuals who answers trivia questions as a team. There will be four or five rounds of ten questions in various religious categories (the categories will not be announced until the night of the event.) The team that answers the most questions correctly at the end of all five rounds wins the grand prize. We are asking for a donation of $100 per team or $10 per person upon registration.

Space is limited to fifteen teams, so register your team as soon as possible. Attached is an information sheet about the Trivia Night and a registration form. Forms along with payment may be mailed to: Religious Trivia Night, Galilee Baptist Church, 4300 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108 or you may contact me directly at 314-831-5763 to reserve your spot or with questions. Please make all checks out to the Berean District Minister’s Wives and Widows Auxiliary.

If you have never been to a Trivia Night, then you are in for a pleasant and relaxing evening with friends, if you have been to a Trivia Night then you know that fun will be had by all. Let us fellowship one with another! If you cannot attend, but would like to contribute, please send your contribution to the address above.

All is well,

Aurita Prince Caldwell

Berean District’s “Lady of Distinction” Representative

Religious Trivia Night

What is a Religious Trivia Night?

This Trivia night is an informal, fun, competition where teams battle to see who has the greatest knowledge of matters trivial. General religious knowledge and trivial interest questions are asked by a trivia Master of Ceremony (MC) and the winners are the team which, at the end of the night, have correctly answered the most number of questions.

How will the Trivia Night work?

The night is run in 4 rounds. During each round the MC asks a series of questions and the teams record their answers on their score sheet. At the conclusion of each round the sheets are submitted to the Judges table and scored by a team of judges.

Once the entire round has been scored by the judges, the sheets are handed back to the teams, scores for the round are read out, and then the next round of questions commences. At the conclusion of the 4 rounds, total scores are added up and prizes are awarded to the winning team.

How many can be on a Team?

Teams may be made up of from five to ten participants. We asking each team to donate $100 (based on a full team of 10) or $10 per person. In forming teams, please keep in mind that the more people you have the greater the chance that one of you will know the answer. Each team may create a team name and have a theme. Teams or encouraged to decorate their tables and to dress in accordance to their theme. Although this event is geared towards adults, older youth would also enjoy this activity.

Will refreshments be provided?

Light refreshments will be provided in the form of punch, chips and cookies. Each team may choose to bring their own energy foods according to their dislikes or likes! Napkins, plates and utensils will be available.

How do I register and pay?

You may register by filling out the attached registration form and mailing it to Religious Trivia Night, Galilee Baptist Church, 4300 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, MO, 63108. Please make all checks out to Berean District Minister’s Wives and Widows Auxiliary. For additional questions or to reserve your space you may contact Aurita Prince Caldwell at 314-831-5763. Space is limited to only 15 teams, so get your registration in as soon as possible. Registration will remain open until all spaces are filled.

I want to come, but I don’t have a team?

As space allows, individual registrants will be teamed up with others to form an independent team.

Emergency Shelters

Greetings Berean:

This is a reminder that Churches are needed to serve as Shelters when emergencies arise.  Not only for Missouri, but individuals that may be evacuated from from their state as well.  We have heard from five (5) churches, but need to hear from you as well.  Our Director, and Moderator of Antioch MB District Association, Nathaniel Griffin will keep us informed of the training for this endeavor which will probably be this Fall.  Please contact us via email or 314 440-6625 if you wish to participate.  Also, please share this information with your Pastor.

Thanks in advance for supporting Berean in advance.  A hearty welcome to those Churches that said "Yes."  We will keep you abreast of all training as information is received through the Red Cross Partnership.
